How to import CSV into Excel 2016 with English language system settings

Learn to easily import CSV files with image analysis results into MS Excel 2016 to get your data optimally prepared for further statistical evaluation.

The IKOSA Platform generates quantitative results data in a CSV format, since CSV files offer more flexibility than conventional XLS file formats. These files can be later transferred to different spreadsheet programs like Excel. Yet, before you can perform actual calculations on them, you need to convert CSV files into formats native to the spreadsheet program.

In this article, you will learn to easily import CSV data into an Excel worksheet to be able to proceed with your analysis. 

Please note: This guide assumes the regional format settings of your Windows OS has been set to English (United Kingdom).*

*The same applies if you have selected different English-language settings e.g. English (United States).

What to expect from this page?

Import CSV files using the External Data Import

  1. Open a blank Excel workbook

  2. Click the "Data" field in the top menu bar

  3. Select "Get External Data > From Text"

  4. Choose the file you want to import and click "Import"

  5. In the Step 1 window that shows up select the option "Delimited" for the original data type, and check the box "My data has headers", then click "Next"

  6. In Step 2 choose "Comma" as the delimiter (separator) type

  7. Click on "Finish", then "OK" to insert the data into the workbook

  8. Check if your decimal data has been imported correctly
